The City of Ouray Building Inspector is charged with providing for life safety and the safeguard of property through enforcement of applicable International Codes as adopted, laws and regulations, and ordinances. The Building Inspector is also responsible for inspections of active and inactive projects and has the authority to review and inspect mobile home projects.

The City's Building Inspector has the authority to inspect fuel/gas projects inside of structures. Electrical, Plumbing, and other State-regulated reviews or inspections will be performed by State Inspectors. Work must be done by a licensed contractor. Unpermitted work must have the State Inspector’s consent to proceed without a permit. Contact information for the State Division of Professions and Occupations is linked below:

Division of Fire Prevention & Control - Conducts Plan Reviews and Inspections on NFPA Sprinklers and Fire Alarm Systems in schools and health care facilities.
Division of Oil & Public Safety - Conducts Reviews and Inspections on Commercial Boilers.
