CURRENTLY SEEKING COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS The Safe Neighborhoods community policing group is facilitated by Sgt. Gary Ray. This group creates awareness and education to the public about community policing and its effectiveness. As part of the quarterly meetings, the group discusses identified problems and issues and then organizes strategic responses to solve the problems. As has been found with the group, the City of Ouray has very few issues to respond to and therefore spends considerable time conducting more proactive work. Community awareness and education are highlighted by the group, which has been seen while conducting many of the annual events.
